Set in the mid 1980's when synthesized riffs, neon colors, regrettable fashion, high-hopes and even higher hair ruled the music scene, Todd Lucas: Singer / Songwriter blends the comedic pop-star quality of "That Thing You Do" (1996) with deadpan humor epitomized by "Napoleon Dynamite" (2004).

Todd Lucas is a passionate but naive musician from Nebraska, who wears his heart on his sleeve and has yet to be touched by a woman. Todd moves to Hollywood to pursue his life-long passion and hopefully 'make it big' in the R&B music industry.

B.J. Fairchild is a brash, pathetic loner from the valley, waiting out the recession at his parents' house in Los Angeles. Convinced his lifestyle is more glamorous than it appears, he sensually plays his saxophone, and women, on the local bar scene.

The two musicians have big dreams but little future until the local 'hot-tamale', Gina Marie, gets the duo the break of a lifetime. Fate brings them together, and their eventual heartbreak changes the way easy-listening music is made in the late 1980's.
